Today i was making a cake, and with no air conditioning my frosting started to droop. Sooo, i stuck it in the freezer t let it set up. The bad news is i let it sit there a bit too long and when i took it out it started sweating the icing colors out. Is there anyway i can fix this and why does it happen?
I only wish I knew of a fix for it! It happens because the cake is colder than the air around it, so the humidity in the air condenses on the cake - basically what happens on pop bottles when you take them out of the fridge or on glasses with ice in them. A nasty fact of the cake decorator's life, and the more humid the climate where you are, the worse it is (ask me how I know this!).
