I want to make a cake for Father's day that looks like a steak right off the grill....I picked up so piping gel to use as a glaze to shine it up and hopefully make it look juicy....does anyone know if this will work or how I should apply it to get that effect? Should I tint the gel a bit? Any suggestions are appreciated. Does anyone have any other ideas to get the results I want?
I think I'm going to color the fondant a reddish brown and then paint it, or should I just color the fondant and glaze it? I colored some sugar to look like seasonings, pepper and what not....ahhh! help! ![]()
I wanted to do that too!
I don't really have any advice but I would love to know if anyone else knows.
I did just find this online. Wonder if it works?? http://thesugarlane.com/2008/07/17/making-your-fondant-look-shiny/
I have a couple of ideas as to how, but that just reminds me of my favoite cake ever made, right here: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_2iodWb_5J2U/S1uFmHk7AWI/AAAAAAAAAFI/CL8TK5eeF10/s1600-h/cooked+steak.jpg

Umm wow! Yours? Please share...
Nope, that's from Debbie Does Cakes. She's one of my faves. Seriously, it's my favorite cake in the world.
I know, it is so realistic, right down to the bone marrow and the pepper.
That picture was my inspiration!
I was blown away by it! Well, I'm doing the cake tonight, so hopefully I can come up with something!
