How Do I Make A Pvc Structure

I am in full prep for my son's 2nd birthday (in August lol I know) and I was hoping someone may know or be able to instruct me on how to make a pvc structure/armature. I want to make him a 3D Mickey Mouse cake and have searched the web everywhere for answers with no replies or not very clear explanations from creators. I want it to be about 2/2.5 ft tall. If you go to flickr and do a search for "internal structure-T-Rex cake", which was made by kyla_kae, you'll see an example for using PVC's........
