bubble tea straws are really strong. i usually dowel the whole thing, especially if it's a tricky transport. i've done it with bc as well and its worked just fine. good luck!

You should check out Sharon Zambito's Topsy Turvy DVD. It's fantastic and she gives you some excellent tips on constructing a solid TT cake. Good luck!
