I am having a problem with cotton fuzz on some of my dried gumpaste and fondant decorations that I have propped on cotton balls to dry. Does anyone else have this problem or have any tips to remove it? Is there a better way?

The only solution that comes to mind is to put a little cornstarch on the cotton balls first!

Same happens to me and I roll the cotton in Cornstarch first. Haven't found a fix for it yet, but I can relate. I have started using marshmallows...lol...I suppose it would depend on the type of flower you were doing. =)

Hope you find your answer! (because that will help us too, as I am sure we aren't the only ones w/this problem) icon_wink.gif

I'm not sure what type of decorations our doing but deending,you could use empty egg cartons, candy color trays or the flower former sets from Wilton.

I always put my cotton balls in saran wrap first before I use them with a food product. I never have had any problems.

if i get alittle cotton stuck to my piece (the only time i had a problem with this is when i used a premade gumpaste) I first pick off as much as possible. Then take alittle vodka, and whip the rest off. It should soften the sugar enough that you can remove what is stuck to the outside, with out melting the piece entirely. Just make sure to use as little as possible.
