I am making a 40th birthday cake for a coworker's husband and this is what she wants. It is going to be 4 8inch round cakes....

Thanks!! ![]()
ITs a pretty simple cake on the outside... But its just alot of cake and supports inside. Just for the amount of cake I'd charge probably 250-325
1 more question.. Is it 4 8 inch rounds only of 4 double stacked 8 inch rounds.
I'm assuming its 4 double stacked because of proportion.
Yes 4 double layers of 8inch rounds
Do you mean $250-$325 for the cake??
It says that an 8inch serves 24, so that would be 48 servings. Should I charge $100 for this cake?? HELP ME!! LOL ![]()
hmm if i were you i would use 6" rounds vs 8", you would need alot more than 4 layers to make it proportioned correctly. if you use a 6" and stack 6 2" layers, that will feed 36 is that enough? for 36 servings I would charge $200+ for that cake.
For what you are talking about... with 8" round, you would need about 8 2" layers for it to be proportioned right. thats 80 servings, are you sure you need that much? for that i would charge around $400.
$100 is too cheap, dont do it to yourself
Maybe I'm from the wrong side of the country but I can see getting maybe $90
See, that is kind of what I was thinking....at the most $100....
I'm glad you didn't take that wrong. The cake is amazing and something I wouldn't think of trying myself. And it is something that would make a hit with anyone.
I have friends that get large amounts for their cakes but they live in other states. I live in MI and the people here I've ran across wouldn't pay no where near $200 for a cake. Now they wouldn't mind getting a tiered wedding cake for that price, lol.

If its 4 8 inch cakes (Which would be equal to a 2 tier cake) I'd say $150
If its 8 8 inch cakes (Which would be like making a 4 tier cake after supports)
I would 100% charge $250+ no matter where you live that alot of work.
Unless you want to pay yourself below minimum wage.
