How do you stop dark colors from bleeding when doing a design on wedding cakes?

Use as little color as possible to get the shade you want and put the colors on as close to the time of delivery as possible. The drier the base and the icing you're using, the better off you'll be, so things will bleed less on fondant than they will on buttercream.
