Securing Fondant Letters To A Cake Board?

Does someone have a suggestion as to the best method to secure fondant letters or perhaps a fondant plaque to a cake board covered with the foil covering you can buy in a roll at Michaels?

Might I use buttercream icing or would Royal icing be better?

Or some other method that I'm not even aware of?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just had this issue and the thing that finally worked was confection glaze. A little dab of the glaze and a couple of minutes later it stuck! HTL! I got the glaze from globalsugarart,.

When I glue my fondant to anything, (cake, board...) I use a paint brush and water. It doesn't take much. If you apply too much it will squish out the sides. HTH, Kim

Corn syrup or piping gel will also work.

i weaken piping gel with water, use tiny brush and it works great for me.
