Well, I saw a really neat cake
and the flowers on it were sparkley, actully sparkley!
and I love glitter
so i bought some glitter dust from wilton
mixed it with some blue buttercream icing
and it just looked like blue specks were put into it..
is there any special way to get it to sparkle?

maybe you have to put it on top of the frosting after it's on the cake

Shimmer dust sprinkled on with give a little bit of a sparkle. If you want REAL sparkle, check out the sparkle dusts at the CakeCentral Shop THese are awesome and give a tremendous sparkle! thumbs_up.gif Also, the new sparkle dusts here at CC seem to be really good too! icon_biggrin.gif

If you want super sparkly - Wilton dusts are not the answer. I bought some thinking they would sparkle for me and I was very dissapointed in them. I just ordered some dusts from this site and from what others have reviewed - I expect them to be just the item I was looking for!

I'm looking for the dust that gives the silver metal look (like when making cakes shaped like tools, cars, aluminum cans, etc). I don't have an airbrush yet so I'm hoping to find something than can be brushed on easily.

That would be luster dust. You can buy it in silver - I can't remember if silver is offered in the cc store but I have seen it for sale in other cake supply shops online. You mix it with a little clear vanilla or vodka and you can paint it on with a brush. The Wilton stuff is not good for that. I tried.

Hmmm. First sentence is supposed to say to check out the pixie dusts at Cakes by Sam... They are like real glitter and VERY sparkly. Yes, CC has the sparkle dusts, but those are different than the pixie and disco dusts, so I'm not sure why my info was changed above.

I have some pixie dust from cakesbysam, and it is beautiful and sparkly!! I apply on after I paint with luster dust. I am making seashells for a wedding cake and it gives them a real pretty sparkle.

Painting with luster dust. You mix luster dust with a clear alcohol to create a paint. Very easy and cool technique.

As for dropped posts, I have not encountered that. But there must be something screwy with the automatic linking that is in place. No clue.
