Does anyone have any tips for stopping your roll-out mat from slipping all over the place when you are rolling out large amounts of fondant or gumpaste? I use the wilton one and it slides all over the table. I've tried taping it down but inevitably it comes unstuck. Haven't tried the smooth plastic like some have suggested (ie getting it at Walmart or Home Depot etc)...does that maybe work better for slipping?

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I've resorted to just rolling out on my tabletop but it gets tricky when transferring the rolled out fondant to the cake...
Thanks!

I wipe the table with a wet paper towel first. The when I put the roll out mat down, it becomes like a vacuum seal and usually stays down.

I work on a glass top table and with the Roul Pat mat I don't really get slippage. Probably sprtizing the work surface with a bit of water would do it. When I use a regular gumpaste Cel board I use the rubberized shelf liners under it, they work very well. Not sure if the bumpy surface of that under the mat would affect the smoothness of your fondant or not.

I have NO counterspace in my kitchen, so I use my tile-top kitchen table. Having just a little water on the back helps.

Thanks guys...I have tried the water bit. I found that it still seemed to slip around the edges though and then I'd have to start over because my fondant was all wrinkled. Maybe I just need to be more careful when I'm rolling.
