I'm making cupcakes and a cake for a friends party. She bought one of those cardboard cupcake trees to display. I think the tree directions say that the top can hold 20 lbs. I'm just worried that an 8" and 6" cake covered in fondant and decorated with a lot of fondant flowers will be too much.
Any ideas? Thank you.

An 8" and 6" shouldn't weigh any more than 6.25 lbs. (not including the fondant) provided they aren't a heavy cake like carrot, etc.

Regardless what the fondant weighs, and if it is carrot cake, I wouldn't worry about going over the 20 lb. weight limit.
