Yellow Cake Help

It seems like such a simple thing...but I was asked to make a yellow cake for a baby shower next week and believe it or not it was the first time I have had this request! Everyone usually asks for "flavor" cakes. Any way this threw me for a loop. I have seen a few Yellow Cake recipes on this site but I was wondering what most of you are using. The "one" that your customers just love!

Don't make the "new" version which has the addition of a cup of milk. I'm not the best scratch baker when it comes to vanilla cakes, but since I started using this recipe I feel like a real pro!! It works every time and is delicious, and the sour cream keeps it moist.

I agree, Sylvia Weinstock is a good. It won in a yellow cake scratch off done on here a while back.

I tried the SW new version, but I modified it. I think I used only 1/4 c milk and the 1/2 tsp of ginger... no problems. In any case, the ginger was the real change and it was really good. It didn't taste like ginger, but added a depth of flavor.

I think I will try SW's new version for a cake this weekend. I am gonna do a sheet cake with it. SCP, I'm gonna use your modifications and hope that it works for me.

Queento2, take it to 1/8 c milk and 3/4 tsp of ginger. I checked my recipe.

ok. i'm gonna double the recipe. but will only fill to right before halfway, depending upon how much batter it yields.
