I have been asked to make a wedding cake with real twigs coming out of it. Any ideas of how I should prep the ends of the twigs before putting them into the cake? I have read that some people wrap the ends with florist tape but Iw ould worry that the green could bleed into the cake. There has to be a better idea...

No way would I put real twigs INTO a cake, I would have no idea how to clean them properly in the first place, where they came from, what has been in contact with them etc. Just not sanitary. Twigs are easy to make out of gumpaste and with all things, even if you have wire, floraltape you need to insert them in straws into the cake.
