Opinions On How To Best Attach Face

Howdy,

I made a face out of fondant for a James the Train cake (http://cakecentral.com/gallery/2003496) that the instructions I followed said to attach it to the cake with piping gel.

Do you agree? How much should be used? Should I wait and attach it when I get the cake delivered?

Are you attaching it to fondant or buttercream? If you are attaching it to fondant, do it now so that it will set up. Not sure about buttercream.
