Can I use sugar free ice cream to make a ice cream cake. I wanted to male the Dairy Queen ice cream cake on this site.Help
Hello Missyleigh,
I have never tried to make one using the sugar free icecreams but I don't see why you wouldn't be able to. I would just buy the sugarfree ice cream that you like soften it slighlty so you can pack it into the pan and put it in the freezer to firm up. The key with icecream cakes is to never let them get too melted. Quite often when I make one I spend a lot of time taking it in and out of the freezer. Basically put your cake layer in , pack in your ice cream as quickly as you can and put in freezer. Prepare your decorative icings and color them. Be ready to put your design on when you take the cake out of the freezer and place it back as soon as you are finished. If it is a time consuming decoration you may have to be prepared to place it back into the freezer in between stages.
Hope this helps.
well! ive worked at Dairy Queen for almost 2 years.
Ice cream cake can be made with any ice cream.
Just make sure it doesnt melt. Thats it.
it will be just fine, but be sure not to let it get too soft or the texture will change.
I am not sure about fondant but I know buttercream works great. I have also read that people have put fondant decorations on ice cream cakes without trouble but I have never heard of anyone covering an ice cream cake in fondant. I am not sure how that works. Colored piping gel also works great on icecream cakes!
Yeah, like I also said, the gel works best.
And I never even knew you could ice an ice cream cake!
