2 Businesses In One... Could This Be Done?

I found a shop. I do cakes and there is a lady that make choc covered strawberries and candy. She has her own business name and I have mine. Do you know if this can be done? do you know if we will have to go under one business name? one occupation number? any one can help or any suggestions and I am in Louisiana. Thanks
