hi all. okay, I am trying to make a candlelighting cake for a bar mitzvah. the cake is going to basically be a long log cake but rectangular vs. circular. The boy's name is going to go across the front of the cake. I made 2 18" sheet cakes with the intention of cutting the cake into 18 x about 5" pieces and stacking 3 of those. however, I need to fit 14 candles into the cake horizontally and I don't think 18" long cake is long enough. That being said I figured I could add more to the length, but I am really concerned that the spot where I "connected" more cake is going to show through the fondant; the reverse of a bulge, more of a dipping where they seam together under the fondant. can anyone tell me how to avoid that? thanks!
