Hello all! I am new to the site and love it so much!

I am trying to do a jacket cake, like the leather types that are found in the gallery. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to do the collar and neckline. Is there a tutorial somewhere to help me figure it out?

I would be most appreciative if I could find something to help!

Thanks so much!

I had the same problem with a folded shirt cake that I made a couple of years ago (it's in my photos). Have you ever done any sewing? In the patterns for shirts that have collars, there are actually two pieces: one that is the part of the collar that is visible and another one (which is usually just a straight piece about 1" wide and the same length as the part of the collar that attaches to the rest (hope this is clear). This piece makes the collar stand up from the body of the shirt/jacket. I just cut mine like a sewing pattern and it worked fine. Hope this helps you solve your problem. I think maybe once the collar goes on right, the center front pieces will fall into place.

Oh, well, update time. I just looked at that photo, and I see I didn't actually do it that way, because the neck was buttoned because of the tie. But I would do it with a jacket that was open at the neck, although you might need to make the piece that connects the collar to the cake a little wider than 1". I'm sorry I don't have a scanner, or I'd draw you a picture and post it. It might help you to take a look at a shirt or a jacket to see how it's made.
