I went down to my supply pantry and have discovered that I have no Chocolate Cake Mix left!!!! I need to bake off tonight and live out of town, therefore getting to a store is out of the question. Does anyone have a great scratch chocolate cake recipe that they can share of recommend one of the ones here on CC? Thanks for any guidance!

in a pinch the recipe found on the back of the hershey cocoa can is very good.

There's a lot more very good chocolate recipes but I recommend that one as it uses ingredients usually found in people's pantries. The other recipes I love use more specialized ingredients.

I love this chocolate cake recipe...and everyone who eats it loves it too. And very simple to make, and cake comes out very moist!

hershey's cake but i have been substituting sour cream for the milk to get more of a dense cake. it still tastes great.
