Needing Some Advice

I have made a few cakes over the last year but never a wedding cake. I have been asked to make two wedding cakes - one for a wedding in April and one for my son's wedding in May.

I am curious what type of stand I should use for these cakes. For my other cakes I've just used boards I've had around the house. But the cakes weren't such an important part of the event.

So many of you have done wedding cakes I would love your advice.

Use whatever the bride and groom want or have them supply it.

(You can help advise them on what would work if they're choosing something that's the wrong size, not sturdy enough, or wouldn't look right proportionally.)

Thank you for the link and the suggestions. I've looked through lots of the pictures in the wedding galleries and it never crossed my mind to look at what the cakes were sitting on.

The right stand really makes the cake! If it's not too large, a simple pedestal stand looks really cute.
