I am making my 7 year old niece a birthday cake. She asked for vanilla cake with vanilla filling. Can you suggest a filling that will have a nice vanilla flavor to give it a little more taste. I am worried that it will be bland being all vanilla. I don't want to fill it with buttercream though.

A rich pastry cream would be nice too... or if you wanted it a little lighter a vanilla bavarian cream. Use some real vanilla pods and the flavor is really nice and not bland at all.

Thank you you guys for the suggestions and although I said no buttercream, I think the bean flavour might change it up.
