You need to figure out how much it costs you, for everything, the box, cake board, supports, etc. For me a 6" and 8" cake will cost me about $25. Then I'd look into what other people in your area charges, etc. I wouldn't charge $55 for a 6 and 8 inch cake in my area. The $30 I'd earn is just not worth it.
I know in my area a 6 and 8 with simple border and buttercream decorations will run about $125, I've asked around out of curiousity. I would suggest doing that to give yourself an idea. And yes, I would take skill into consideration, but I wouldn't sell a cake if I knew I'd spend hours on it for $30.
