Hi, I like to use utterly butterly and icing sugar with a dash of vanilla extract (not essence, it's rubbish!). A lot of people use vegetable shortening like Trex to make White buttercream. I've tried it and thought it tasted awful! Wilton also do a whitener for buttercream, if you use that and Lurpak butter (which is the palest you can get) you'll get almost White icing. HTH.
I assume you need it to be buttercream? Obviously royal icing or fondant can be pure white.
I use 2 parts butter and 1 part shortnening this seems to help it keep in shape better but might just be me! I have also found in the past that utterly butterly stays very yellow....
I've been told flora is good option to keep icing white but havent tried it myself
