I am making a spongebob cake for my son and need to make some figurines. I haven't done a lot of making any type of figurines and I need some advice. I have used fondant and gumpaste and a mix of the two before but was wondering what is the best to use for something like that? Is modeling chocolate something that is better for that type of thing? I have never used it before so I am unsure of what its consistancy is and what it works best on. Any advice on the subject is appreciated! Thanks!
You can use a mix of fondant and gumpaste. Or just straight fondant if you mix a little of something like gum tragacanth powder in to give it more strength. Some people do great things with modelling chocolate, although I'm not familiar with it myself. Personally I only ever use fondant with gum trag. which works well for me.
