Which Cake Flavor Do You Like Best With Strawberry Filling?

My daughters first birthday is this weekend and I wanted to do a cake with strawberry filling. When you do cakes, I think there's always pressure to serve something amazing. I just can't decide which cake flavor would go best. In the past I've always just made vanilla cake with strawberry filling but I was wondering if there was something even better. I was thinking of doing one layer of chocolate and one layer of vanilla (or white?). What about yellow cake or butter yellow? I feel like my brain is about ready to short circuit here. icon_lol.gif

I did a search and someone said almond cake is great with strawberry filling. My plan for the filling is white chocolate whipped cream with sliced strawberries. And I use sugarshack's BC recipe.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks so much! icon_smile.gif

I love to make a white chocolate cake with my strawberry filling. Each time I've made it, I've gotten rave reviews.

Vanilla or white cake, with strawberry filling, and a layer of vanilla custard.

the one i get the most comments on and is my favorite is white cake with strawberry and bavarian creme filling.

Other flavors that go with it though
chocolate
lemon
yellow
and of course Strawberry!

I love key lime with strawberry, but then again I like key lime with alot of different flavors.

my clients love chocolate cake with strawberry filling..which is chocolate ganache with sliced strawberrys in the middle..it like having a chocolate dipped strawberry..yumm
