Someone emailed me:
"Please tell me the price of the following cake on your picture gallery, *insert cake name here* Please only reply to email: _____@_____"
(They put the actual name of the cake)
Weird eh? I think some people do not like computers. I emailed back. We'll see if it is legit or not.![]()
This might possibly be the lead-in to one of those money scams. You tell them the price, they send you more money than necessary and ask you to refund the difference. Just be aware of the possibility, several others have gotten an email scam but with a different approach. Janice
I had an email like that once and I sent back a quote and it was so mysterious and then a few weeks later someone from my church told me she gave my name to this person. I was so glad to at least know it was real!
I've gotten in the habit of being very generic in email correspondence.
If they're serious about ordering a cake, I need to *speak* to them. On the phone or in person. At least to start the deal out, then we can finish by email if they want.
I delete any email that doesn't clearly say what they want in the header. Thus--anything that just says "hi" or "hello"...sorry! click--delete. I don't even open them. I've accidentally deleted emails (like, once) that I shouldn't have, and that person called me up and said "what's up"...
I figure it's safer that way.
Boy, I am so guilty of this. I also send emails, and ask for responses by email only since I do not want my phone number given out. I figure if they want my business they will respond and at the very least answer the questions I have asked them. I will then check them out ,and decide from there if I want to deal with them. Only then will I call them.
I am sure I am not the only one out there that thinks this way.
