Making a cake this weekend and going to use my new 3 diamond cutter to make a quilt pattern. It will be on a square tier. Any advice on where to start in order to make corners look right? Do I just start in one place and go all the way around or do I treat each side individually? Do I start at the corner and work to the middle or vice versa? Any advice is appreciated icon_smile.gif

I'm not sure what the correct way or best way is but I usually start at a corner. I pick what I want the back of the cake to be and start there. That way if the pattern doesn't quite match up perfectly at the end at least it will be to the pack corner. I think it looks best if you can hold the cutter so that you have a full diamond at the top. If you place it so the top of the diamond gets cut off it really takes away from the finished look.

I usually start at the center of each side so the pattern is centered on the cake.
