I would assume that it's made from hard crack sugar. Here are the rest of the photos from the show...

None of it is my work - I just go "WOW!"

Thanks for posting the link to the show. Beautiful things, I have always admired the work of Kim Morrision, Michele Foster and Norm Davis. I got a kick out of the gingerbread house on my shoe cake plate!

I would love to know how the Panda cake was doweled to hold up the topsy turvy. It seems like it is defying gravity or physics.

Why do you think Norman D. cake won over the tea pot one? they are both beautifull, but the tea pot is so much more diferent en "special"

Wow that pouring teapot is cute! I haven't looked at the others yet - but what a perfect idea for the "Mad Hatter" theme of the cake - the tilting layers, I mean. Very cool.

Wow! That teapot is AWESOME! I agree that Norman Davis did a great job on his cake, but I too, think that the teapot is much more detailed and eye catching than his.

If anyone knows how they did that panda cake and got it to balance like that...let me know. Amazing. Maybe someday....

why did it get second place? I can only assume that the details on the winner were superior....
and I have also seen this "pouring" concept before.....perhaps the judges did as well. Who knows? It is a great cake, however.

It makes me a little nervous cause I'm entering this year at this show....they'll be some stiff competition!!!
