Does anyone know how to keep gumpaste smooth while it is drying? Mine looks like it is going to crack!!! icon_cry.gif

I just bought the wilton powder in the can and added water to it and the kneaded in some powdered sugar. I'm new at this and trying to figure it all out.

My co-worker taught me to add just a tiny pea-sized piece of shortening to the gumpaste to make it more pliable and easier to work with....I know, I know...my first thought too..."But if I add shortening, will it still dry hard?" icon_confused.gif

It does...perfectly!! icon_biggrin.gif I add it every time now. I can roll and re-roll without it being a cracking mess. thumbs_up.gif

I would just knead in some shortening. It's probably a little dry. Wilton's is like that, I have to use the shortening when I use it. Good Luckicon_smile.gif
