How To Add More, But Not Too Much, Cake

I have a cake that is supposed to feed 15 and they want the Wilton Football cake. According to Wilton's page, it will serve 12. So, any suggestions on how to have a little more cake without being too much?

This might be a stupid suggestion, but would it work with the theme to add a few cupcakes?

You could bake another thin layer of cake, then carve to shape, under the football, so its deeper....if the cupcake idea doesn't work.

Make the ball on a tee, the tee should give you a few more servings. Just carve it out of another small cake.

great ideas! Thanks so much! I think I may put it on a small, one layer 10 inch square (hoping it looks good). That way it's not a ton of cake, but still enough...and I can't carve to save my life haha!
