Help Making This Groom Cake With Less Servings
Decorating By mookamoo Updated 13 Jan 2011 , 2:56pm by nonilm
Hi, below I attatched a photo of the grooms cake that a client wants. They only want around 25 servings. I know I can scale down the size, but I don't want to scale it down so much that it looks funny. I know I can use a dummy cake.
Also, is it strange to have a cake that is mostly a dummy cake? It just seems strange to me... Any ideas? Photo wont attach so link is below.

You're in luck... a 9x13 serves exactly 25!

A 12" square at less than 3" high would serve 24. No dummy needed. And I think 12" square would be large enough for you to add sufficient details.
Ditto! However, considering industry-standard 2x2x2 servings, a 12"square would serve 36 by my reckoning.

I agree you could get 36 servings out of a 12" square, I was using the Wilton chart. They say cakes less than 3" would yield half the servings of a 3-6" tall cake which for party servings is 48. I am assuming they are saying 3x2x2 servings. I only do cakes as a hobby so I always end up making too much cake ![]()
