The pans I have are aluminum and were purchased years ago. The thing is that over time as they have been washed, they have this odd roughish texture to them and they aren't solid silver anymore. I almost can't describe it, but it's like that have a whitish film on them that won't come's not scratches, though. It almost feels like chalkboard and I can't stand touching them! Odd, I know icon_smile.gif

Is this normal? I want to get some additional pans, but I'd like ones that won't do that...ones that will stay feeling smooth (except for occasional scratches) and won't feel weird to the touch.

Did they go through the dishwasher at all over the years? That makes aluminium go white. The pans will be fine to use though and still work as well (I know because one of my 6" ones went in by mistake, but it still bakes the same as the other 6" that escaped!)
Check this other post out too, on how to make them shiny again:
