In seven days (next Sat) I am hosting a baby shower for my sister in law. I am making a cake also. Anyone have any shower ideas. So far I will be doing the baby food game, where people have to guess the food. I will do a price is right type thing where people guess prices without going over of some baby items. Everyone come up with as many songs with 'baby' in the song. I did a photo collage of their two faces in photoshop as a gag to show what their child will look like.
For food, I'm making egg, ham, smoked meat, sandwhiches, some hot artichoke spinach dip, the cake, cheesecake, appetizers with tomatoes/basil/cheese balls on toasted bread thing (saw on internet, looks cool)... someone is bringing veggie tray. I will make sangria, and some other non -alcohol drink.
Any ideas from cool baby showers you've been to.
I am co hosting a shower in a couple of weeks. We asking each guest to bring a plain baby bottle, onesie, burp rag, bib or anything that can be decorated. We are providing fabric paint, ribbon, etc. and will spend part of the afternoon embelleshing the items the guests bring. The MTB is sentimental, so we thought she would enjoy the personalized items. I am making a belly cake and will bake a little plastic baby in the tummy and whoever finds it in their piece of cake will get a prize. We're still planning it and we're trying to be creative and original.
I went to a shower that had lots of guests. To encourage people to get to know each other, the hostess pinned a name of a famous person on each guest's back. The game was a race to see who could be the first person to correctly guess the name on her back by asking other guests questions related to the identity. For example, the name on my back was Coco Chanel. I asked, things like, "Is it a man or a woman?", "Is it a real or fictional character?", "Is the person still alive?". You just keep asking questions until you narrow it down. It was kind of like 20 questions, but you weren't limited to 20 questions. It was a great way to get everyone to mingle and it broke up the usual cliques. Lots of fun.
