You can use it with or without bc. It is a filling that is already prepared for you and is shelf stable. You can buy it at a cake supply store or online. Some of them are very good, others, in my opinion are not so much. I did not like the strawberry, but most people do. I thought it tasted really artificial. The lemon and raspberry and very good though.
Sleeved filling is, well, filling. It goes between the layers. BC is, well, icing/frosting. It goes on the outside.
I second the raspberry tasting yummy! I'm a scratch baker and filling maker but this summer it was HOT and I didn't want to take a chance on some 3D cakes that had to be made over a period of 3-4 days. Sleeve fillings saved me!
