Need Dog Biscuit Cake Recipe Idea

Please tell me I am not the only person to be asked to make a cake for a dog? I was at a party today where I had taken a cake and this lady (actually 2 of them) cornered me... there dogs are getting married in May, yes to one another... and they have requested a doggie wedding cake edible for the dogs.. I was like, OK... then I thought OMG what will I do? So I was just wondering if anyone had ever made a cake for a dog and what did you use as a recipe? Do you ice it? Do you not? I have a little while, but since my son is due anyday now... the idea would be greater sooner than later... TIA
Ummmmm...Ok then. I don't know about the actual cake itself - are people going to be eating it or just the dogs? If it's for the dogs only, I'd "ice" it with mashed potatoes. If they eat too much butter it can easily upset their stomachs.
I found this by doing a Google search, I'm sure there are many more...

Ingredients
2 cups of all purpose flour
1 teaspoon of baking powder
2 eggs, beaten
½ cup of honey
½ cup of canola oil
1 tablespoon of vanilla essence
1 apple, cored and chopped
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Oil a 9 X 13 inch baking pan with vegetable oil.
Mix the flour and baking powder in a large bowl and put on the side. Whisk the eggs, honey, oil and vanilla together in a separate bowl until it acquires a smooth consistency. Then add the egg mixture to the flour mixture and stir until the mixture is moistened. Then fold in the chopped apple.
Put the dog birthday cake recipe batter into the greased pan and smooth the top out with a spatula.
Bake the dog birthday cake for 40 minutes or until when poking the center of the apple cake with a wooden pick, it comes out clean.
Allow it to cool completely before serving out to your pooch.
Good luck!

You need to be really careful what you feed to dogs. Some things like raisins can actually hurt them a lot. Make a meat "cake" and ice it with mashed potatoes. Make it like a meat loaf, no onions, they're bad for dogs as well, using the eggs and bread crumbs to bind it. You could make it really small and have it be the top tier while the bottom one could be of cake for the humans.
Or perhaps you could just make a giant dog bone and decorate it. This web site has a bunch of recipes as well as decorating tips.

I have cats...but...thinking of the different colors ... my idea: mold canned beef dog food into the cake shape. If chicken dog food is light enough, you could 'ice' with that...pipe rosettes, words, and 'bone' edging with contrasting food, perhaps even coloring the chicken food?
Here is a site with a lot of recipes for cake for dogs as well as the frosting recipes. You might get some decorating inspiration too. I love this site!
