My first wedding cake is due close to the end of November (Summer in Australia!). I am making a 3 tier round wedding cake (12", 9" & 6"), choc + white + caramel mud cake - good solid thick white chocolate ganache crumb coat to conceal cake colour. My question is do I go with buying Fondx or run with homemade marsmallow fondant? I have made marshmallow fondant a good few times now and it seems to work well, however, I'm wondering whether I could acheive more of a smooth flawless look with a premade fondant like Fondx? I have read on many user reviews that Fondx tastes very similiar to marshmallow fondant and is one of the more preferable prefab fondants. However, I have heard that it can be on the 'bit too soft' side to work with - this may be an issue if our summer is quite warm at the time of the wedding?! But again, I'm thinking that a pre-made fondant with eliminate more chances of error and stress attacks
Any thoughts and opinions would be appreciated icon_smile.gif
