our local Distinguished Young Ladies scholarship program has a theme every year and i'm the cake lady for it (not officially lol) quite a few of my family members help out with this program every year donating time equipment and so on- even my son's have served as escorts for the young ladies.
last years theme was "get a clue" and i made a detectives bag with gems coins and so on with finger prints every where and magnifying glasses etc.. the year before was "Marvel-US!" using the super hero theme etc.. (THIs one is in my photos) i made the spiderman on the lower tier, batman for the middle, superman for the top with different flavor cakes and fillings for each (etc etc)
this years's them is something to do with Orient or oriental.. Not sure WHAT yet.. i hate to do it in a solid chinese, or japanese etc them.. i'm contemplating doing a merging of several oriental cultures if i can. depends what the full theme is.
I am certain though i'm going to want the bamboo mold to make for the borders. No idea yet on what size it will be or tiers.
last years cake went (was dark dark chocolate with dark chocolate fondant) even the extra cake i brought went lol. (hey i didn't mind!)
So anywho before i ramble more.. i have seen the bamboo molds around i just can't think of where right now. lol.
