Had a phone call today for a cake order. The gent gave me a link to a site with a cake he liked and wanted a price. The cake was priced up at £275 which for a 3 tier cake with lots of decoration and 4 figures was very cheap to start with. I told him that it was a very good and fair price and I would be able to do it for him for the same price. His answer was Oh well I only have £100 budget for the cake can you not do it for that!!!!!

OMG I am so fed up with people thinking that I should only charge them for the ingredents!

Customers please take note this is what you are paying for.

1. Ingredents.
2. Time to make the cake.
3. Fuel cost to bake it.
4. Time to Ice and decorate the cake.
5. Cost of training to make cake (and 4 years doing the training)
6. Cost of tools which run into £100's!!!!!
7. Profit YES profit I dont do this just because I love it I do it to make money!!!

gee it seems that people are getting cheaper and cheaper. I quoted a lady $200 for a 3d cake to feed 40 and she told me i was trying to rob her. Said i was 125 to 150 more then anyone else, now i know there aren't too many people around here that can do this kind of work. And if she can get it for that i told her she should differently jump on it.
