I'm also a home baker doing my first wedding cake at a real venue. How do I find out if my state allows home kitchens/unlicensed bakers?

My daughter got married in a very nice catering hall and I asked the Banquet Manager if I could bring in a few pounds of cookies from a bakery. He told me that was fine because they would come wrapped and with their label, but nothing homemade.

I wouldn't take the chance unless you have permission. And it will be so much easier on you.

I can believe the price because my housekeeper is getting married and her cake is going to be 1.25 per serving. I was shocked because $3.00 is pretty standard here. I suspect that she has an Amish/conservative antibaptist woman making it. Thanks for the heads up with clearing the cake with her venue. I will warn her of that possiblity.

Incidentally kuddos to whoever posted the recipe for the cake with creme bulee creamer and white chocolate pudding. I made it with a french vanilla mix and she and her fiance liked it so well they ordered it for two tiers of their cake.

The Commonwealth of Kentucky does not allow in home bakeries. You have to have a separate building, sewer/septic system and license.
We are waiting for it to quit raining so we can start our building. Then after we spend about $20,000.00 I can bake a cake for money!
