I am looking to purchase a good silcone mat to role fondant on. I have found a lot but some are saying the grid marks leave marks on the fondant.... anyone have a good recommendation? I would like something big so that I can roll a good size on it.
Thanks
I bought a plastic table cover in the wal mart fabric section, it comes in rolls and you have them cut to the size you want. cost $3.00 then put it over an inexpensive grid.
I strongly suggest looking into THE MAT by Sweetwise

It's a set of 2 30x30 FOOD SAFE vinyl mats for $15.99 + shipping. The youtube video explains it all very well. It leaves no marks on the fondant and it's easy to clean.
I have the blue Ateco mat and I find that it gets hard to clean and seems to attract lint and dust like crazy. Because of this, I've been rolling on regular vinyl from WalMart because up till now, there was no FOOD SAFE vinyl that I was able to locate for purchase.
I'm ecstatic to now have a FOOD SAFE vinyl to work on!
Sweetwise was easy order from over the phone and shipping was great. I got 2 sets shipped in capped cardboard tubes for $42.

I agree with Rae The MAT by Sweet Wise is a great fondant rolling tool and
@ 15.99 for a 2 piece set as oppose to 42.00 for 1 mat is a great deal as well. I too suggest that you check out the video on youtube.

I have the Ateco, I like it a lot. But I am curious about The Mat.
Check out the youtube video. Not sure how to post the link but just search SweetWiseInc and that should take you to the vids.

I got mine from Pampered Chef. It's great!
Sorry, but whatever "mat" you purchased from Pampered Chef is NOT the MAT being discussed in this thread. 2 completely different animals.
