Has anyone made a tiered cake with some layers fondant covered and some bc covered? I'm just wondering if it has been done and if anyone has pictures I'd love to see them. I'm wondering if it would like ok or horrible. Everyone I make cakes for wants bc but I have the urge once in awhile to do fondant. I give them away so really I guess I should just do what I want right? free cake is free cake. 
Sure, I've done that before, and I am sure you could find examples in the cake galleries.

Besides, if you use a good tasting fondant (like MMF, Choco-Pan, etc) your customers may discover they like it too!
I'm not sure if it's popular, but I am going to do it in a few weeks for a two tier cake. The bottom tier will be black and I really don't want to use black icing...it's so messy and stains everything. So I will use fondant for that tier, and the top tier will be buttercream.
