I want to make a cake for my family's Fall gathering in a couple of weeks. I have just really started decorating cakes and I am thinking I could try to do a Horn of Plenty. My thoughts are a cake carved into the shape of the Horn and using tented buttercream to do a basket weave. (or I could spray the color on) And then make the rest of the fruits and veggies out of fondant covered mini bunts (pumpkins) or just modeled to look like the other ornamentals.
I need suggestions on how to start this, or easier ways that could work? Anyone got any.... ![]()
your best bet would be to carve the cake.. i cant think of anything else. do u want to use buttercream not fondant for covering.. u can always imprint fondant with a basket weave print then use it to cover.. cause it will be hell doing the basket weave on the cake ..
and yeah just mold the fruit and veggies out of fondant

Thank you both for your help. Turns out there were too many desserts for this gathering so I am taking a main dish. BUT..Thanksgiving is just around the corner! =)
