Attach Satin Bow To The Side Of The Cake

I have a cake coming up and the cake will be crusting buttercream...but I want to add a satin ribbon around the bottom and a bow with rhinestones in the center. How do I attach it with out crushing the frosting?

Put a dot of icing on each end (as glue) to hold it in place
