How Do I Make Perfect Spheres Out Of Fondant?

Hi there

I have been asked to make a pair of lovebirds for a friends wedding. I want the body to be a ball / sphere shape, but my attempt was far from perfect. Is there an easy way to do balls?! I want them to be about 5cm in diameter.

You may want to try using a small styrofoam ball as a form. As you are no doubt discovering, fondant is too heavy to hold a solid shape of that size.

Or if you don't want/have styro you can use gumpaste, it holds its shape better when it dries.
