Can anyone tell me how to cover a cupcake with fondant - I know some smooth the fondant around the edges, but I've seen some that look like a disc laid on top - do I need to use buttercream to attach fondant? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

you can even melt the fondant and then dip!

i just did this for the first time this past weekend and used buttercream so that there was something to hold the fondant, but also for taste. i found a cookie circle cutter the same size as my cupcakes, cut out the fondant and put it right on top of the buttercream. it was so easy and made for such a nice finish!

i use a circle cookie cutter for the fondant (about the size of the cupcake), but instead of frosting buttercream in between the fondant and cupcake, i just brush the top of the cupcake with Light Syrup to hold the fondant. icon_wink.gif
