We had to go into town today which is like a 45 min drive and my husband took me to michaels it was a tottal suprise he had actually heard me when I mentioned there was a sale on pans so thankyou whoever posted that alot of the pans were sold out but i got the mini wonder mold the ball pan little heros and the butterfly one plus tons of new colors and spatulas and flower formers and cookies cutters plus new caddies to hall it all in im just so excited its very rare that I can go get new cake stuff now i want an excuse to make all these new cakes. I saw in my area they are starting a fondant gum paste class in febuary I dont know anything about gum paste and very little about fondant so I am going to see into takeing that but Im not sure about all that driving into town it also says that you have to take course 1 as a pre rec and i have never taken that but hopefully considering my experience I can get around that. what do you think? icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

Gum paste is way fun. The Wilton way tries to use inexpensive items you can find at Michael's but still be prepared to spend a little more money. Will bump your cakes (and profit) way up and set you apart!

I also live a bit away from the mall and when I go to Michaels I get all excited inside... icon_smile.gificon_lol.gif
I went today to get stuff for my Grandma's 80 birthday party and my budget went out the window. Now I am just looking for stuff to make to use my new stuff. Hooray for you and if you can do that class it would probably be a lot of fun.
icon_smile.gif good luck and let us know how you make out.

Definitely take the course Heather! Your cakes are great! Take pictures to the instructor and see if she'll let you take the fondant course!! Do it before the month is over and maybe they will let you sign up for Feb.
"... into town....". icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif Do you live where I do? I love it. I have to drive into town 45 minutes too. Usually only once a week! I am NOT picking on you!!!! I just thought I was the only one on this site that lives in the boonies. icon_smile.gif

I signed up for the new class lastnight. I am currently taking course 2. The Fondant and Gum paste class kit costs 29.97....luckily I had a 40% coupon. icon_lol.gif I wish my husband would take me pan shopping. You are so lucky. My DH justs likes to eat the cakes. He thinks I should just stick to making fudge and pralines. Thats how I got my business started. Take a class it is a lot of fun!

I definitly will take the class if i can get my hubby to give up more money considering he did just take me pan shopping and hes finally giving in to our daugther takeing gymnastics but i usually get my way if at all possiable so im keeping my fingers crossed. mjs4492 thankyou for complementing my cakes that means alot as I do not have a whole lot of confidence in custom work sure I can pull a kit cake out of my hat but thats not custom work. Im not sure you would consider where I live the boonies for me driving into town is reno nv but i live in what used to be a little tiny town about 45 mins away but we are rapidly growing icon_sad.gif but still no major stores so once a week we go into town to get all our shopping done but i rarely ever get to go to michaels as it is across town from where we shop so I was super excited today.
