how do i make a checker board like the one used in twilight cakes without painting each individual square?

cover the cake with white (or ivory fondant) then cut blck fondant squares and pop them on - I f you want everything to be the same depth - then cut white squares the same size

it might be easier to paint them though icon_sad.gif
