Does anyone have a recipe to make edible pearls? I was also wondering if you have ever colored the basic white edible pearls? I was wanting silver pearls.

Thanks!

I use the pearl mold and make the pearls with fondant. Some just roll the fondant in pearl shape.

I've only used the pearl luster dust. I don't see why you couldn't use the silver luster dust to color them. You may want to tint the fondant a silver color first to get better coloring.

I seem to have seen where some make them with gum paste.

Maybe someone with more experience will also answer.

Welcome.

I normally use roll out my fondant pretty thin, use a number 3 through 12 tip to "punch" out the circle. Then I roll the circle into a ball. Oncwe the ball has tried you can then put them into a jar and add luster dusk in the color you want.

Or you can color your fondant before you "punch" out the circles/balls.

There's a great tutorial on sugarcraft.com under the edible pearls section. They also have the pearl cutters and a question/answer section at the end of the page. I think there's also one on earlene's.com.
I tried the pearl cutter but ended up just making them by hand - but I was in a pinch for time.

Earlene also has a tutorial on her site. I use MMF for mine.

They are easy, though be it time consuming, to make on your own. I usually punch a whole lot out and store them under a barely damp paper towel. I then sit, watch a movie, and roll away. It helps to have a wet cloth and dry towel sitting near for you hands. Once they are dry stick them in a container with some pearl dust (any colour work) and gently shake them to coat. I have done pink, blue and green, along with white pearls. They look great and cost next to nothing if do them your self.
