I made a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting and stacked it last night (3 inch layers). When I woke up this morning the cake had sank and the frosting was bulging out at the sides. This happened with my last cake (strawberry with strawberry icing) as well.
Does anyone have an icing recipe that is stable enough to fight the bulge???
I find these recipes to be tasty and sturdy:
