you want the buttercream to act as the 'glue' for the fondant, so my advice is to put thin layer of buttercream on the cake (smoothly) an then immeiately cover with thefondant.
Good luck - I must admit that I now put mazipan on all my cakes for a better finish. but you could start with a thin layer ofsugar paste,brush with alcohol (ie vodka) then a second layer. Alternatively have a reasonably thick layer of fondant, which should give you a reasonable finish. ![]()
